Baptized before
Without choice
Outside time
Before sin and grace

I was Their own
In more than name
As the water
Splashed my face

And why use up
Any water
No before sin
To wash away

And why before
Without choice
There’s only after sin
To counter grace

Yes I ran
Their senseless race
So slow at first
But I kept pace
Took everything I had
Increase my speed

Always someone

Forget Their stakes
The finish Their idea

Called to my full
